NOLS has a new Strategic Plan

Updated: Sep 19

We are very encouraged.

The Second Summit 2024 Strategic Plan begins with NOLS’ Vision, affirms its Mission, recounts the school’s remarkable history, acknowledges its leaders, titles Expedition Behavior Our Truth and reminds us that a NOLS' wilderness education has a transformative power that is “woven into the very fabric of the school". Shaped by NOLS Six Core Values, the Plan lays out the right path for the future.

We said a year ago when Sandy Colhoun became NOLS President that we look forward to NOLS becoming once again the wilderness school where we can encourage our friends and sponsor our children and grandchildren to go on a NOLS course. Now we can say this again with greater confidence. As avid NOLS supporters, we're excited to see how this Strategic Plan will unfold.

We want to thank the NOLS Strategic Planning Committee for its commitment to NOLS’ enduring Mission, the everyday practice of Expedition Behavior and the school's future as the leader in outdoor education.

NOLS Self-Assembly

Our objective is to serve as a link between NOLS and the greater NOLS community for an open discussion about how NOLS can stay true to its Mission and the practice of Expedition Behavior. We have consistently reached out to the NOLS Board and the Executive Team as a group. We aim to engage with open inquiry and constructive and generative dialogue.
